What we talked about:
PyLucene full-text indexer http://pylucene.osafoundation.org/
From the examples(I had no access to docs) I as able to add sophisticated search over a collection of ~500 files to a website after a few hours of coding. The PyLucene specific parts of the Indexer Script and Search Method are ~15loc including imports!
Pros - many, many examples, nice wiki; fast; very nice query language; excellent complexity curve(simple is easy -> complex is possible); no magic, clean, powerfull, doesn't make assumptions on how you want to do things; Used by Zope and Java Lucene has other "backers"
- Cons - worthless docstrings; must download java Lucene, ant, javadoc to produce api docs.
- Selenium - web test framework
