This page is for planning a Northwest Python conference. The goal is a 300-person event similar to the Vancouver Python Workshop, to be held in late 2009 or 2010 in or around Seattle or Tacoma.
Once we have a working plan, we can approach the PythonSoftwareFoundation about getting a grant to help cover costs.

Introduction
Kevin Altis of PorPig and Mike Orr of SeaPig propose an inexpensive Northwest Python Conference:
"After looking at the Python User Groups list I realized we have groups in Portland, Oregon, Seattle, and Vancouver, B.C. (plus ActiveState in Vancouver), so a NorthWest conference/get together on the cheap is probably doable." --Kevin Altis <altis@semi-retired.com>
Shall we talk to the groups in Portland and Van and see if we can put together a regional thing? If so, what would it be about and what would we do? --MikeOrr
(from an email message to SEAPY -- insert reference to archives here.)
I think this is a great idea! Let's contact PorPig and folks in Vancouver and see what we can come up with! --AdamFeuer
Fine idea as far as I'm concerned. But don't expect me to help w/ the planning -- I do my share of conference planning already! --DavidAscher
Planning
There is a mailing list to discuss and plan regional Python events: NW Python See the archive for previous messages.
How about holding it close in time/space to the Ruby conference, who is doing this?, which coincides (I think) with OOPSLA in the fall, November 4-8? Or should we do it sooner? --AdamFeuer
Vancouver Python Workshop
The Vancouver Python and Zope User's Group has actually put together such a conference http://www.vanpyz.org/conference without knowing about these other efforts. Please attend! -- PaulPrescod
